1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Novelist (“the Platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you may not use the Platform.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account and use the Platform. Certain content on the Platform is restricted to users who are 18 years of age or older (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction). By accessing age-restricted content, you confirm that you meet the applicable age requirement.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information during registration and to keep it up to date.

4. User Content

Authors retain ownership of the stories, blog posts, and other content they publish on the Platform (“User Content”). By publishing, you grant Novelist a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute your User Content solely for the purpose of operating the Platform.

You are solely responsible for your User Content. You must not publish content that:

• Violates any applicable law or regulation.
• Infringes on the intellectual property rights of others.
• Contains illegal material, including but not limited to content that depicts the exploitation of minors.
• Promotes violence, harassment, or discrimination against individuals or groups.

5. Adult & Mature Content

The Platform permits fiction that contains mature themes, explicit language, violence, and sexual content, provided it is legal in the applicable jurisdiction. Authors must accurately flag such content using the Platform’s content rating system.

Adult-rated content is gated behind an age declaration. Users who have not confirmed their eligibility will not be shown age-restricted material. Misrepresenting your age to access restricted content is a violation of these Terms.

6. Subscriptions & Payments

Some content may require a paid subscription. Subscription terms, pricing, and billing cycles are presented at the time of purchase. Refunds are handled in accordance with applicable consumer protection laws and our refund policy.

7. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose.
• Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract content without permission.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts or Platform systems.
• Harass, threaten, or abuse other users.
• Circumvent content restrictions, age gates, or access controls.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at our discretion if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time through your profile settings. Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately.

9. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. User Content represents the views of its authors, not of Novelist.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Novelist shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
